The
aim of this website is predominantly to raise awareness of Selective
Mutism for those with the disorder, among families, teachers, mental
health professionals and society in general.
By supporting the cause means help finding solutions for the Selective Mutism community. This is as area in psychology in which research is seriously depleted, a paucity of studies means a paucity of solutions leaving a sense of helplessness among those who can't find a solution and feel as though there are few places to turn. I believe that there are answers out there we just need more awareness so that we can help keep the ball rolling.
The wristband represents a desire for and belief in the possibility for change. The first step towards change is awareness. Awareness is essential for progress, frustratingly little is known about Selective Mutism. This needs to change and has the potential to with the support of the Selective Mutism community. Each person makes a difference as they help the community strengthen.
